“Issue #10: What Was That Now, Dear?”

The first Blacknose-centric episode! Slowly I’m getting into more and more of the BarrenClan cats as individuals. I believe I’ve mentioned this in either her reference or an ask, but Blacknose has early-onset dementia. Surprisingly, this has been one of the harder things for me to research and write, and I’ve been trying to do my best to portray her condition well. There’s a lot more to Blacknose’s character, anyways, but it is an important part of it so I want to get ir right. 

When her pupils change to that more yellowy color in the fifth page, it’s not a literal transformation but more supposed to represent them being “unfocused” or “glassy”.  

In page 4, from top right and clockwise, the birds are a thrasher, partridge, cormorant, and crow in that order. Blacknose is right in that those are names; you will learn about them eventually. 

One important announcement, or at least something of note: after this issue I may start scaling back how quickly issues come out, from once-weekly to maybe every two weeks. Working on two comics, along with everything else in my life, has been very difficult and I don’t want to get burnt out. We’ll see how it goes.
